Momiji Dolls are the contemporary adaptation of the original Kokeshi—folk art dolls made of spare wood by Japanese farmers. They were given as tokens of love and friendship to family and friends. Today’s designers incorporate elements from traditional kimonos and origami, as well as contemporary themes, including manga, anime, fashion, and pop stars.
