Lisa Helfer - Origami is, for me, the perfect blend of art, math, and science. The thrill of every new creation comes from the magic of transforming paper to art through folding
Lisa F. Helfer has been an origami and paper artist for nearly 25 years. Her expertise is sought for both private and public instruction. Among her many clients are the Japanese Consulate, the Asian Cultures Museum in Corpus Christi, Y.E.S. College Preparatory School, Montgomery County Community College in The Woodlands, Alvin Community College, Christ the King Lutheran Church, Montgomery County Public Library, the Houston Zoo, the Episcopal Diocese of Texas and St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System.

Her original artwork has been exhibited in Sao Paulo, Leone, Aruba, Houston, Corpus Christi, Chicago and New York. She has collaborated with other origami artists to create more than 30 joint exhibits.

Ms. Helfer is the founder and Coordinator of the Origami Houston! Study Group, an organization of more than 35 members who meet monthly to share ideas and concepts pertaining to origami. She is also a sponsoring member of Origami USA, the premier nationwide origami association.
