| One day, a year and a half ago, Truong inadvertently stumbled upon the magical, fascinating, and beautiful world of origami. He was spending an afternoon making and flying paper airplanes with his 6-year-old nephew Alan, when he realized that they could probably find instructions for folding some nice paper airplanes on the internet. Well, they found some paper airplanes online, sure enough. But they also found much, much more... "Oooh, Uncle Truong, a PIG! Let's fold that pig!" "What about that turtle, Uncle Truong? Can we make another one to bring home for Ryan?" "I think Mommy would like a bunny rabbit." There were no further paper airplanes folded that afternoon. But a little paper zoo was born, along with Truong's new love for the wonderful art of paper-folding we all know as origami. Since then Truong has found a group of like-minded origami enthusiasts in an organization call Origami Houston! (OH!) that has helped to open up further to him this amazing world of paper art. It wasn't long before he began to experiment with folding foil, as well as fabric-on-foil, some examples of which you will find at Tansu's Origami Festival. . email Truong: JHLEntInc@aol.com |
